Hey everybody. I know, you've heard this question so many times before, but I'd like to put my story out there and see if it's a more definitive answer.
I am 17 years old and have no previous experience with motorcycles, but I am going to take the MSF course in a few weeks so don't worry about that. However, the tentative choice of my first motorcycle is the Honda CBR 600. I know the bad background 600s have for beginner motorcycles, but I believe myself to be fairly mature for my age. I learned to drive a manual car a few years back and approached that as a challenge. I never overstepped my boundaries when I was still learning, and I learned the basics before anything else. I see riding motorcycles as another challenge to master and respect.
I've considered ways to begin my training on this motorcycle, such as practicing in low gears in a neighborhood parking lot and shifting between first and second. I will also ask my MSF instructor's recommendation. So with that I ask what your thoughts on the matter are.
Also, I was planning on getting a late 90's CBR so it is not as powerful as newer ones, but can still cruise at interstate speeds.
