Motorcycle advice - 2001 suzuki sv 650?

I am looking at purchasing a 2001 suzuki sv 650, but it needs a few repairs. It needs new plugs, emptied gas tank, and a new headlight shroud. It doesnt have many miles and he only wants $1000. Is this a good deal? I am looking to upgrade from my 1983 kaw kz550 that i learned on this summer. Is this a good upgrade? thanks
 
hell no-parked that long too much wrong w/it- go buy a new one there cheap now
