i always used castrol semi-sync 10W-30(manufacturer recommended oil grade) grade oil for my car. But im planning to switch to TOTAL fully sync 5W-40 grade oil. Will it ruined the engine if i used different oil grade?

You are doing the tright thing Total (ELF) oil is one of the best available. The difference in viscosity here is only to provide more temperature variance oil flow. Make sure that the lable of the TOTAL oil states specifically that it was ":designed" for your particular car. Mobil 0W-40 is another great choice.

The change to FULL SYN is NOT the reason to worry. You are changing grades. That will be the BIG PROBLEM Always stick to the factory recommendation (winter, summer, old or new). They have smart engineers who know what they are doing (not just following hunches).

Good luck....

No, it won't damage your engine, but consider the grade with the weather where you live.
