...Accord? My mom's car. She has told me this so I took it out for a drive. You can see steam (not white smoke) coming up from the hood. Open it, it smells like burning by the valve cover where it's coming from.
Ok, let me take this back home. Drive it home and the Check Engine Light comes on. Then it shuts off and does that the trip home (three miles or so). Then, I get home, pop the hood and more steam and the burning smell.
Checked oil level... perfect. Power steering is a little low but the steering is great, it rides perfect, it's not overheating, no smoke out of tailpipe, all the fluids are topped off and look good.
Any ideas? Gunna check it out in a couple hours but looking to see if anyone has any suggestions that I could follow up on. Thanks
I highly doubt it's the head gasket. Reason to believe is the oil level is perfect and looks and smells like oil does. It is not chocolate milkish or any weird color like that. There is no smoke out of the exhaust, it does not smell sweet like coolant is burning, and the car is not overheating at all and runs fine. No loss of performance. I am going to take out the spark plugs and check the compression in each cylinder to see where that leads too. Any other ideas? Please fill in.
