I did a search and cant find a direct comparison. I am completely stuck between the two phones. The omnia is awesome and especially if the Samsung touch wiz is disabled and just having windows 6.5 is really snappy. Droid is great but kinda bland. I know android is new and will get a lot better but i really just cant decide. I really need more opinions about that.

I would go with the Droid. Samsung has some really nice hardware, but their ability to update phones leave much to be desired. Support is everything.
On Verizon, HTC also has the Imagio, and IMO, HTC has better support than Samsung. But the Samsung has the better processor (800Mhz vs. 528MHz) and that gap will show, especially with Windows Mobile.
Processor on the Droid is best since its practically next generation compared to the one used on the Samsung. I also prefer the apps this side of Android, especially if you're into location based, like Google Maps with Navigation, Layar and Foursquare.

droid isnt htc its motorla and therefore probably not as great IMO
samsung has some faults but specwise it trumps the droid
i have an O2 so i could be biased but everything on it is great, it just requires some tweaking, like disabling touchwiz, etc. but when you have, its just a great phone
also, the screen is just beautiful and has gives you the longest battery life ive ever seen. that was the main selling point for me AMOLED is next gen tech even more so than android.

Droid clearly has the better CPU here like a Pentium to a Celeron. Motorola is still one of the best, if not still the best phone out there when it comes to call and voice quality as well as its ability to hold a connection.
AMOLED is only beautiful indoors. It gets washed out when outdoors and consumes more current when using light or bright backgrounds. The nature of OLED, with individual pixels lighting, is its only energy efficient when the screen displays a lot of blacks on it.
If you're interested on a Samsung phone, wait for Bada.

the samsung displays only 65k colors...but has a graphics accelerator built in and an 800mhz CPU...but this is windows vs android, the 528mhz processor is probably more than enough for android

if you havent had an android phone, i would say try the droid but honestly you cant go wrong with either one
if i was in the same situation i would try the droid just because it has android and wait til windows 7.0 comes out to see what that is going to be like

A lot of valid points being made for both phones. Have you had a chance to play around with both units? When it comes down to it, your preference has a major role to play. The keyboard is a major bonus, if your like me and do anywhere from 2000-4000 texts a month then the droid is the way to go.

None of you mentioned the capacitive screen on the droid which I much prefer but at the end it should come down to which OS you like more. I wouldn't get a winmo phone now. Lots of next gen winmo's are on the horizon with snapdragon processors and capacitive screens.

I am leaning toward the Droid , but one of the things i like most about the omnia 2 and rogue is the voice to text feature. Along with Voice commands. You can do just about anything on the phone with voice commands without touching the screen. How does the Droid compare with voice to text and voice commands. Or perhaps a third party App but if so does anyone have experience using one on the Droid.

Droid (and Android OS) has voice to text built in.
Using Handcent (and probably the built in sms program, I haven't used it), I can easily respond to an SMS by tapping on the microphone icon, instead of in the text box, and a window appears, asking me to speak clearly.
I then simply speak, and what I said is entered into the text box. Hit send and your response is sent.
Google search allows you to say something, and have it entered into a search box and launch your browser to show related results.
Say "Navigate to Bob Smith", or "Navigate to Best Buy", and the Droid launches Navigator, and either starts giving you directions to Bob's house, or displays several Best Buy stores near you. Tap on the one you want to go to, and again, Navigator launches and begins giving you verbal turn by turn directions to that Best Buy!
There's also a translator program (free), say something in english, it'll translate it into Spanish and speak it out loud (or german, italian, french)...
