Moto Droid on Alltel?

Is it possible to activate a motorola droid on alltel and have full functioning 3g data etc?? My friend bought a BB Storm 2 outright from verizon and had it activated in store with no problems at all. Is there a guide somewhere to achieve this??

the Milestone is set to be coming to Alltel. Just wait for that.

Agreed. Sometime this month alltel will receive basically the exact same phone as on verizon.

You could get a droid and get it working with full 3g, but no mms and trouble with roaming. It takes the newest cdma workshop and a lot of tinkering. Seems much easier, surefire, sane, ect. to just simply wait a couple weeks for the milestone to drop for alltel.

I'm willing to bet root methods will work for the alltel milestone, and you can drop some cyanogenmod action on to your alltel milestone. Just remember to backup and restore your apn(?) settings for mms I believe.

oh i didn't know the milestone was coming to alltel. I just got a Hero and i'm sure i won't want to pay the outright price on the milestone. damn wish i knew that was coming, i would've waited and not jumped the gun with the HTC hero.

The problem is the no real pst menu on the motorola droid's. You have to go through CDMA workshop, and specifically the most recent version of CDMA worskshop to get 3g working.

Even then, you can't get mms (picture messaging) working on a verizon droid on alltel.

If you have had the hero for less than 30 days, i do believe you can return it for a full refund and be able get a new subsidized phone.

Yeah, within 30 days, return it, and just re-activate your old phone. That's what I did.
