My plan is AT&T Pay As You Go. I successfully unlocked my Sony Ericsson cell phone, and traveled to Canada where I picked up a Rogers Sim card. No. Problem. Now (prompted by my kids) I am looking for an unlocked phone with QWERTY so we can text. My question is if I buy an unlocked phone can I use it with my AT&T Sim card and will I still have the Pay As You Go plan. Will I be able to access WiFi/internet/email here in the U.S. and then buy other sim cards around the world.

As long as the phone is unlocked you should be able to use it here is the us on your pay as you go plan. If you want to WiFi, make sure that the phone has WiFi, most new phones do.
If you are planning on traveling, I would suggest a QUAD phone.
