I'm having my first child in about a month and my mom is planning to stay with me for the first week just to help around the house and a little bit with the baby. My mother-in-law is a little jealous of this because she wants to stay with me for at least a week also, if not for longer! (she only lives 5 min. away!) However, sometimes a girl just wants her mom, you know? I am very close to my mom and feel more comfortable with her being there. I have no gripes about my mother-in-law stopping over a couple of times during that week to visit, but again, this is the time when a girl just wants her mom -- kind of like my wedding day -- I just wanted my mom.
My mother-in-law has a daughter and they are extremely close and she sees her and her two granddaughters almost every day. I'm having a hard time with the fact that she doesn't seem to understand that I have that same relationship with my mom and I shouldn't be criticized about it since her and her daughter are the same way.
I'm just getting stressed and don't know what to do about the jealousy issue. Of course I want her involved, but I don't feel like I should have to constantly defend my close relationship with my own mom.
