Toy Story 3.
The movie was fun, it had heart and etc etc, you know, like How to Train Your Dragon or Lilo & Stitch (Both Chris Sanders movies, I know, I know), but every person who saw it acted like it was the best movie to have ever come out ever. And that it was the only movie to have ever had heart or emotion and is a masterpiece of all animation, or a masterpiece of media in general.
When really, it was just as good as How to Train Your Dragon or Lilo & Stitch, maybe a tad better, but it wasn't the most superior (animated) film to have come out.
And still even now, in the Box Office talkbacks, you'll still find a number of "Whew! Toy Story 3 is still getting numbers! You go, girl!" as if TS3 hasn't had enough spotlight. Even when the movie was a few weeks old and got bumped down a few spots, people crazed over the movie like how dare this NEW movie that came out claim the #1 spot and move Toy Story down.
I just hope people don't end up using Toy Story 3 as a constant comparison for the PERFECT ANIMATED FILM EVER when criticizing other animated films.
I agree with Shawn, Pixar can often times be very overrated, especially on the internet (Not with all their products, people don't even remember Up! or A Bugs Life anymore). I still like Pixar, their work, and I love Toy Story, but I also like other companies and think many of them have produced fine work that ends up getting crushed under Pixar's popularity boot simply because "it's Pixar!".
Worse yet, movies that do have heart and emotion to it end up getting compared to Pixar anyway like "It feels like a movie made by them!", it's not as if Pixar invented heart and emotion. Heck, they didn't even "invent" animated heartfilled movies, Disney was the first one out there to make that a name. Pixar should just get credit for jumpstarting CGI films (Which, ha ha, ironically many people are sick of), not creating good animated stories.
