I do watch these programs, I admit, but surely I can't be the only person to be unconvinced about the so called proof they offer. At the start of the show last night they had the regular nut job saying how she had never missed an episode, had all the DVDs and was a total expert, just before they showed the clip of her being asked questions on a previous show and not knowing the answers. She said, and others have said that the scariest thing they had ever seen on the show was when one of the team was out on their own and a beer barrel rolled past, apparently of its own accord. I can vaguely remember this show, I think it was the one set in Granada studios. That's the place were they use special effects to make you think you are seeing things that aren't real. Did no-one else see this and think, someone off camera just pushed it along? This particular show was co-presented by members of the cast who all looked suitable terrified. Actors, in a tv studio, being scared by things going bump, and shadows, who'd have thought it?
So, last night, there they were in a disused tube station, hearing all sorts. Could all the bangs and scrapes they said they were hearing not have been caused by someone off camera with a selection of pots, pans, plastics cups and tin spoons? Dont forget as well, that the place is obviously crawling with rats. At one point Yvette said she had been looking at stuff on camera and something had fallen down, that she hadn't seen before. Could this not have been a humble spider? My point is, this is a tv production crew, the situations are highly manipulated and some viewers get the idea that something strange is going on, but just because they lead you to think that all that is down to spooks, doesn't mean that it is. Dont forget, Yvette was an actress before all this, although that was a very long time ago, Yvette and her hubby Karl own the production company so it is in their interests to make sure people watch it. They have done well, they recently started the Paranormal Channel with mostly their own money and now you can watch endless repeats of Auther C Clarke, and Strange But True with Micheal Aspel. Whoopee.
When will someone come up with proper proof of either the existance or otherwise of ghosts. Ghosthunters makes a good stab at it. Some of the things they show can make your spine tingle, but again, I'm thinking, 'its all done in post production'. If the truth really is out there, it's not transferring well to telly.
