Most churches ~ at least those with more extensive institutional ministries than just running weekly services for congregants ~ study the history presented within biblical scripture to a substantial level of detail. However, what always strikes me, as an agnostic who nonetheless attends church every week (explanation? email me) , is that by comparison, the actual history OF the bible (i.e. how the biblical canon was compiled and edited from its various authors) is so rarely studied, aside from the occasional anecdote to explain the name of a given book. Why do you think this is?
