Most Atrocious Fake Accents

Cinema is the home of the dodgy accent. I saw the new Star Trek last night - which was awesome - and with Simon Pegg's Scottish accent actually coming off half-decent, I was reminded of all the horrific fake accents people try to put on in movies.

Here's a list of the worst ever Cockney accents, which is pretty damn hilarious -

Do you think any can actually top the number 1 on that list?

I would agree with the number 1 choice by a mile.

Anthony La paglia iRAB bad in Frasier but the worst ones in that series occur in the episode when Frasier discovers Daphne's favourite 'British' Pub.

Awful.

I thought Daphne's ex-boyfriend "Clive" from The Two Mrs Cranes episode had the worst fake accent I've ever heard. It was like he was paying homage to Dick Van Dyke's performence in Mary Poppins and it was totally cringe-worthy.

Charlie Whatshisface (Hunnam?) in Green Street is pretty horrific.

Other honourable mentions are the Irish accents in PS I Love You, and Ray Winstone in The Departed.

Jason Statham's American accent has it's moments, especially when he gets shouty - it suddenly goes all Croyden on him.

I kinda think no one will ever achieve the almost mythic status of Dick Van Dyke's Mary Poppin's effort though.

Sean Connery in pretty much any film ever is hilarious - his Highlander one is just classic - is it Spanish? Is it Scottish? Is it Mexican?

Who bloody knows?

Soooo many priceless, cringey "Oirish" accents out there..

Julia Roberts in "Michael Collins"!!!! Tom Cruise in "Far And Away"!!!! Gerard Butler in "PS I Love You"!!! Kevin Spacey in "Ordinary Decent Criminal"!!! Don't even get me started on that Sean Connery effort...

Hugh Jackman's Wolverine is pretty good most of the time but there are a few moments in each of the X-Men films you can hear his Australian accent come through.
