I don't think you can group people like that. I know plenty of Atheists who turned Christian because of Atheist parents, I know plenty of Christians who remained Christians and went through formal education and can think for themselves, I know plenty of Atheists who remained Atheist because they had bad parents who claimed to be Christian....Everyone has different life experiences that lead them to believe what they will.I also don't understand why you seem to think that Christians or Muslims don't get formal education, can't think for themselves, are stuck in a way of thinking from long ago, or are closed minded. That's like me saying, "because I am a Christian and you are not, I am moral and you are evil."Some Christians are moral, some Atheists are moral, some Christians are evil, some Atheists are evil.....some Christians are closed minded and can't think for themselves, some Atheists are closed minded and can't think for themselves. YOu seem to think that only Atheists live in the world as it is today and accept the facts presented to them. Here is a fact for you: that way of thinking is extremely judgmental, and only furthers the gap between the lack of respect among religious and non-religious.

Then you must know very few atheists or you are just too young to have had much experience. I've been an atheist for 66 years, 7 months and eleven days. I was born without the god gene.

I agreeIt's so amazing to me that these theists believe they have "chosen" to follow their religion. They're brainwashed and clearly delusional. Us telling them the truth makes us snotty and arrogant. What about when they're preaching their "truth" are they too arrogant? It's really amazing how religion warps people's sense of logic, reality and good ole common sense.

I'm not stuck in the past even though my beliefs span well past the 2000 year mark, not do I discount modern scientific evidence. I like to think I am open to all forms of information and try to educate myself from a perspective that I can see how it all fits together. The only question I see in this semi-rant is "how many believers come from atheist parents"? Count me among the "not many" you wager. My parents were not only atheist they were leaning towards vehement anti-religion. I'm not really part of any particular flock either, this bird likes to fly solo.

Well, you are obviously abundantly open-minded when it comes to spelling and grammar. If you can't show mental discipline and accuracy in your use of language, why should anyone give credence to your views on the vastly more important issue of theism vs. atheism?
