Mosquitoes have probably killed more people than any other pest, but are they...

Why do humans accuse mosquitoes of killing people? No human has ever been killed by a mosquito or even a swarm of mosquitoes. A correct statement would be that people are killed by mosquito borne diseases. Mosquitoes and their larva are an important food for thousands of species of insects, fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, and mammals. Some of these mosquito eaters couldn't get through the initial part of their life without the tiny just hatched mosquito larva for a first food.

Mosquitoes are important to the ecosystem as a food source for many birds, reptiles, amphibians, fish, and bats. Just because something is not useful to humans does not mean it is not useful to the rest of the planet.
