Hi,
I have a question for you and anyone else who could help... Your fused from L2 to L5?
I'm now having problems with S1 but I was told after my surgery (L3-L5) they could only fuse two at a time so they couldn't fuse S1...... I'm confused but I was fused 6 years ago.
I wonder also if they can fuse more together if S1 could be fused with the rest?????

CK, like I said I was fused from L2 through S1 just last July; I don't believe there's any limit on the nuraber of vertebrae fused. A 16 year old boy had his entire spine fused, in setions, just this summer due to scoliosis. He didn't wear any brace at all post surgery.

I had figured I'd be wearing that huge, hard body brace like you described, but my surgeon said they don't use them anymore. My mother had surgery similar to mine about 12 years ago and she had to wear that kind of brace. My corset type just wrapped around me and was held with velcro and had metal that went on the lower spine.

I know my result was unusually good, even better than my surgeon had anticipated. He said you never can tell how these surgeries will turn out: some get better, some stay the same, and even some get worse. I was fortunate; it's wonderful to be rid of nearly all my pain.
