Well, I don't think it was the tie-down making him "hard mouthed" despite what you guys think.
When I rode him today I rode in the little arena. I asked exactly like I did yesterday and he collected himself and pushed with his hind end instead of trotting around like a Standardbred. So it's just being in a big area what makes him unresponsive.
Any tips on getting him more responsive in a big area would be nice.
I've tried half halts, asking to collect, circles and all that stuff. Nothing has worked. I've been grounded. :[
