I was just reading a previous post about hardware removal and had a few questions of my own. I didn't want to post my questions on his thread because I felt it would be rude. So here is my questions. I have luraber pedicle screws and cage and don't know if that is causing my problems. What kind of symptoms have you guys and gals experienced because of the problematic hardware in your back? I have really bad lurabar pain all of the time and my third and last surgery was done in 2003. Sitting is probably about the worst thing and increases pain tremendously. I also have lots of radiculopathy pain that is constant in my left leg. A lot of spasms and cramps in leg and electrical shock type sensations that occasionly radiate down my leg. My second question would be, how did the doctors come to a conclusion that the hardware was causing the problems and needed to be removed. I read in the other post that a ct scan was the diagnostic method. I am wondering methoRAB were used on other people to diagnose because the only thing I have had was one x-ray at about 6 months post-op. Just wondering if there is more that can be done for me>
Fusion s1/s2 w/o hardware (Leg Pain) - 1982
Laminectomy L5 - (Leg Pain) - 2006
Fusion L5/S1 w/ hardware - (Leg and Back Pain) - Feb 2007
Revision L5/S1 w/ removal of right side of hardware
with Laminectomy of L5, L4, and L3 (Leg and Back Pain) - Nov 2007
To diagnose whether the Hardware was my problem, they did a mylegram and saw the screw laying close to a nerve then they did a nerve block of the hardware. My pain went away for 3 hours after the block then the pain came back with a vengenance. This is a postive nerve block meaning the hardware was the source of my pain. I had the block done last Septeraber and then had the revision done this past Noveraber. Unfortunately I still have back pain and leg pain. They are saying I probably now have failed back syndrome and I continue to pray that it is still early out and the LORD will heal me.
I hope this helps and please feel free to ask any questions. I love to chat.
