Long story short, I have a black and white picture of my wife looking out a window, and a picture of a sunset. I want to use Corel Paint Shop Pro XI to merge the 2 in such a way where the sunset picture has the same shading as the b&w photo. Where the white areas of the photo illuminates the sunset while the black areas darkens the sunset.
I have been trying to use the "New Mask Layer" option, and the "From Image" section of that, and where it's suppose to be black, it's a gray and white checker flag pattern.
I have been told this is the transparency of the picture, and I was told how to remove the checkerboard with black but it doesn't seem to be working.
Can someone give me step by step instructions as to how to remove the checkerboard pattern with black please?
