Collective Soul is a good dependable work horse and starting point for lots of rock to follow. Alice in Chains is very good once in awhile as a starting point.
 
Anything by Jimmy Eat World is awesome, did I mention Jimmy Eat World "Sweetness" before? For some reason the following songs I also find uplifting. These are taken from a playlist I created on Rhapsody.com called Soul Rehab. I apologize ahead of time if I have mentioned these before.
