why wasnt there ever a sequel to this movie i loved it and still do!

does anyone know of any plans out there

i mean if they are doing toy story 3 why not monsters inc 2?
 
Well, it should only be done if a story worth telling can be written. Pixar are good at writing original scripts, hence not many sequels. I mean, why fall into the Hollywood trend of sequel after sequel? Even Disney have all of these straight-to-dvd follow ups to successful films. I hope that they don't apply too much pressure on Pixar to follow suit. At least TS3 has the story potential (Andy growing up and getting rid of them), but has Monsters Inc?? I have my doubts.
 
Toy Story is a massive franchise. Cars also has a very strong franchise potential.

But Monsters, Inc. was such a perfect, well rounded and complete story with just enough left hanging to wonder whether Sully was reunited with Boo for long, or just a short visit. I wouldn't want that story revisited when the film is so perfect itself. Same with A Bug's Life and Finding Nemo.
