Monster live action adaption ever going to happen?

With all those animated series to live action movie happening, what are the chances of Monster getting a live action adaption? I was thinking more of a movie.

I think that would be great, the story is so edge of your seat intense, that is could be great. There is no mecha or fantasy, there is no special effects that would be needed. It is so grounded in reality.

Well, there's the problem that the average Japanese producer doesn't have the budget to hire actors from other countries, or shoot on location in Germany. Or construct sets that could pass for Germany.

Furthermore, who would you get to be Johan? He'd be a casting nightmare.

why does it have to be a japanese actor? Why can't it be a western movie with naoki urasawa being a consultant and writer for the project?
I mean while it is anime, it definitely takes place in the west and in general can work with a western director just as well as it can work with a japanese director.
Heck everyone tenma meets surely doesn't look asian, and as a result I think a story rooted with western actors can work

Well, for an American movie, there's the whole track record with these sorts of adaptations. After the U.S. Life On Mars, I can honestly say I rather not imagine what Monster would be like.

Never say never. Sometimes these things just take time - whole lot of it. Speed Racer was in development for decades before it came to fruition, and DBZ look it's sweet time too. Even the regular Hollywood process can take that long, let alone with an adaptation.

If a movie is made, I bet the actor that plays Johan instantly becomes a teen idol. I could see fan girls going nuts over him "He is so dreamy, my dream boat serial killer." LOL Though actual that happens in the series, Johan really is an idol among criminals. To bold ugly looking killers, he is an idol.

Yeah that was kind of disturbing, just by staring at him they were like " you can own my criminal skills and my body specially my body ", but seriously if they ever made the live action and take the project seriously, it can be a terrific movie, but I bet that Hollywood would find the way to screw it up somehow, when the story its just right there, with no need of many changes.
So right now I would rather if they don't do a live action.

I was thinking of this myself.

It's the only anime that I've seen that I think would make a nice live-action adaptation. Of course it could be done wrong, but I do think that it has the kind of story that would do just fine adapted to a live-action movie without much changes at all.
