My Mom had surgery to Jan6 because her hernia was obstructing her small bowels. She came throught the surgery good and on Thursday two days ago she had her staples taken out. The drainage that came out when we got back home was very scary. It is a clear liquid...no blood no pus but ALOT. There are no signs of of infection and her surgeon prescribed an antibiotic. My concern is she is in swing bed and the nurses have to cahnge the dressing a couple times a day because it is still draining. How long will this continue? She has been through so much she has COPD and was high risk for surgery so they did a spinal block on her so they wouldn't have to put her under and she is 73.....can someone please give me some answers so I can rest a little easier. Her surgeon is aware of the drainage and wants her to continue with physical therapy etc he doiesn't seem to be too concerned but I am still a little worried.....any info or similar situation and outcome will be greatly appreciated. Thank you, Veronica
