I have a '95 honda accord with 140000 miles on it. I havent done anything to it since i bought it a year ago, but i would like to modify now. I was thinking of adding a short air ram intake and an exhaust system on it. Would this be the best way to start modifying it? Eventually I want to do more, but only a little at a time, due to lack of money. These are cheap and easy mods, but I want to make sure I'm not wasting my money by starting with the intake and exhaust. Any advice?

Realistically speaking, adding those mods will give you at the absolute most 10 hp or roughly 3-8% increase. Also, obviously, you get a lotttt of sound that for a short period of time is awesome for anyone... but let me tell you, after a while it gets aggravating even for the most avid fans (unless with the sound comes lots of power, and you wont out of intake headers and exhaust). For no money you can remove unnecessary heavy components. And for more money you can save up and get something that will add significant power (engine swap, boost, or nitrous). If it were me for the time being I would just stick with a nice intake that won't be obnoxious from 2 miles away like an exhaust, and you get an excellent throaty sound of that cord :)

edit: AND DO NOT CHANGE TO A FREE FLOW CAT!

It basically is like running without one, and no noticeable power difference will be felt. All you do is add more emissions to the atmosphere. Free flows are designed mostly for racing applications and technically are illegal and for off road use only.

yes it is a good start but just depends on if you want power or just looks. if you do the exhaust chnge out the catalatic converter to a free flow cat
