Moderate/Severe strange stomach pain

Hello all.
I am coming here for help for my Husband, who for the past week has been dealing with some kind of stomach pain that is present in the mid to lower right side of his belly. The pain is present at all times except for when he is laying flat on his back. Sitting upright , standing, walking up stairs and such alike movements are all added pain to the area. The doctor was afraid it was his appendix and sent him for blood testing and a CT scan and had to take barium sulfate for the scan. The blood work said that his guclose was just a little bit high, and his urine showed a fairly high amount of white blood cells. But the CT scan report showed nothing to the doctor. That was all that was done and the doctor has said there is nothing more he can do. And advised him to go to the e.r but for insurance reasons we are trying to use that as a last result. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? I would greately appreciate it.

Pain from diverticulosis is most often experienced on the left side, but it can be on the right side also. It does not always show in a CT scan. Has he ever had a colonoscopy or is he getting to the age where he ought to get one routinely?

He has never had a colonoscopy. I'm not sure at what age you should start but he just turned 36. New syptoms have started where he gets real uncomfortable at the top of his belly just after he eats. Looking through symtoms of various things on the net had led me to believe he might have gallstones. I wonder if these would come up on ct scan if he did have them. Thanks for your help
