Model Car Help!?1966 Shelby Mustang GT350H?

Hi, I just got a '66 Shelby mustang GT350H and I have a budget of 50$, it is my first model and I need some help with painting tips, building tips, tool tips, and any other advice that can help me. The instructions call for black with gold stripes but I'd like to know what you thInk would look better, thanks, I'll vote best answer to whoever can help me the most
 
The H model was a Hurtz rent a racer programs and only came in that color scheme.

*edit* This article says they came in more colors than that. Didn't know that.
