'Mode Not Supported' Samsung Component Trouble?

Whenever we try to switch to component 1 connected to our SHARP dvd player, the message 'Mode Not Supported' keeps popping up. We tried unplugging the cables and then re-plugging them, but nothing seems to work. The other components work, and the dvd player seems to work, but the component just wont sync. Please help?
