MMS with 6700

http://mms.mycricket.com/servlets/mms is the server name.

Also needed is a websession named Cricket_MMS with a gateway IP address of 10.3.0.41 port 8080. The user ID and password are blank. These are the settings right from my original cricKet Motorola phone but they should work on a smart phone as well, judging by the info in all the threaRAB on this subject I've been following. Hope this works for you.

I notice that MMS for the xv6700 works through an application by ArcSoft called "MMS Composer". I also noticed that MMS composer is branded by Verizon and the Network Settings menu has been LOCKED--at least on my unit.

I'm thinking that getting into that menu is the way to get MMS to work.

I have tried to Google for a .CAB installation file of MMS Composer and found a couple of links, but one is a newer version that simply won't install and the other is the default version that comes factory with the phone.

If anyone can get into that menu I think that may be where our answer lies. It may take a registry hack or some other finagling to get it to work, though.

I'll keep investigating, but that's all I have so far...

edit your registry as such:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\ArcSoft MMS UA\Config\UI
change the key, EnableServerEdit, from 0 to 1

then you can edit the server info

Has anyone else gotten an Incorrect Password error when trying to SEND an MMS using cricketwap and cricket as the user name and password, respectively?

I would think so, my phone uses websessions, which are like connections, but I don't have a place for DNS entries or nuraber to dial (#777). I do have 2 websession entries, Cricket_MMS and Cricket_WAP. The WAP one contains different info than the MMS one. I would try making a new connection just like the one you have for WAP and change the gateway (wap.mycricket.com) to 10.3.0.41:8080 . you can try leaving the password and user fielRAB blank and/or with them filled. My WAP websession uses a different user ID than what I saw posted. I have (cricketwap) as the user ID. Password is the same though. Also in my MMS server settings menu where the actual MMS server is listed there is an entry that references the MMS websession so that it uses the right one,not the WAP or any other that may be in there. I not sure of your menus but I would think there is something similar for you to reference a specific connection. Good luck

What specificly is happening? My MMS is set to dload automaticly, but once in a while I go to read it and it has to be dloaded. When I do it says Downloading and then goes back to standby screen. Then the status icon changes to an active data connection icon and if the message dloaRAB I get a new msg alert. If not I get a "message could not be downloaded. please try again later." Sometimes I have to try 3 or 4 times and a few I had to erase from the server cuz they just wouldn't dload. Can you send a MMS msg? Are you sending to your phone from email or from another phone? If from email be sure it starts out as a plain text msg and not an HTML formated msg. I've had problems with that before.
Edit:
Also I need to do a little research cuz AFAIK you only use the server and connection to send, recieving is done differently. But like I said, research is needed cuz I do not know for sure.

When I'm trying to connect while SENDING, not receiving.

I can see the icon animating while it's trying to connect, the I get a notification telling me my username and password are wrong.

Also, I was receiving MMS messages before sans working attachments but for some reason I haven't been able to recently. But I think it was mentioned that Cricket has been experiencing a network-wide issue with data.

my GF sent me a pic and it actually came through not at the time she sent it but around 4:00 am. its something weird about that time because when i use to send messages with my kyocera slider sometimes it use to reach her at 4:00 am. But i have the xv6700 and the mms picture came through i still have trouble sending mms though. BTW this has been the only time a picture has came through, the other times they would not download

Okay, after much finagling, I finally got into my 6265i using Diego.

Attached is a screenshot of the MMS settings.

I think the problem is in the ArcSoft MMS Composer--it will allow a Gateway Server address of 0.0.0.0 but not a port nuraber of 0. It defaults to port 9201 for WAP 1.2 and port 80 for WAP 2.0.

I'm going to try to hack the registry settings to see if I can override this.

Anyway, here is the attached screenshot:

*UPDATE: Forcing ArcSoft MMS Composer to accept 0 as a port entry isn't working at all. :reallysad

I'm still convinced the problem lies in the ArcSoft app. Think about it: Internet WAP works fine but those same settings will not yield MMS? It has to be the ArcSoft app.

I asked my GF how she sent me the picture that i recieved from her. She said she sent it as a sms, but it came in my phone as a mms. i was able to get another picture to download from another person that has verizon. It took that message about a day or two to download, i jus looked at my phone and it had downloaded itself

Damn Berry you are the man!!!
This got my MMS working great! I did the registry edit and it allowed me to edit the MMS server configuration! I'm able to send and receive MMS just fine now!
Thank you so much for all of your wisdom!
