I have a 1.6 95 (M) mk1 mazda mx5. Its a Uk model not import. Its in very good condition with only 72.000 miles. It has full service history and has had 2 cambelt changes. I paid 3000 for it 2 month back and my friends are telling me that i got ripped off. They dont know nothing about these cars so im not sure if I was. Can anybody tell me if I paid the going rate for a car of this age and spec? will i get my money back when i come to sell it?
thanks

Way overpriced even though these do hold their value well. You were not ripped off as you were not forced into buying it.
If you use it for a few years and it proves reliable then you will be happy and maybe sell it for a £1000 if you are lucky.

You have wasted some money but if you are happy with the car it is not a disaster.

I've bought & sold these before - lovely cars, but the market is absolutely saturated with cars from very rough imports to immaculate UK cars.
Jap spec cars are better equipped, so paying through the nose for a UK model just isn't worth it. If yours is absolutely immaculate, I'd honestly pay £1,750. However, keep it in first class condition & it'll still be worth that, or very close to it, in three years' time.

You probably did pay a bit over the odds for it, but it's not impossible that an absolutely mint condition MX5 that age might be worth that.
Scruffy ones do change hands for about £1000, but as with any car, condition is everything.
I'd just enjoy it while the sun's shining. (Well, it is here!)
