SrH Controversy

Here's my question....
I live by the motto "live and let live"...so if something makes someone happy, then by all means do it...
however, why would they call it "mixed martial arts?" Yeah its a bunch of different martial arts techniques thrown together, but it should NOT be called "martial arts' by any means. martial arts teaches you to not only avoid a bad situation by all costs, but respect, honesty, courtesy, integrity, self control, etc. Having gone to a MMA studio, they do not emphasize one bit of those qualities, but yet STILL calls it a "mixed martial arts studio".
I've seen so many people with TAPOUT shirts, MMA hats, UFC stickers and whatnot, and by majority, they were all arrogent jerks who try to be the alpha male.
If doing what they teach makes people happy doing it, then that's cool...I just really get bothered when they say they do martial arts.
Does anyone have a legitamate answer to this controversy?
the first answer was a good one.
but still, competitiveness shouldnt have to be classified as "martial arts"
