Mitsubishi Lancer Vs Mazda 3?

I Just test drove the Mitsubishi Lancer GTS and the Mazda 3 Touring. The Lancer was priced at about $22,500 with Moon-roof and 650 rockford fosgate audio system which is perfect for what I want to spend. The mazda 3 was only $18,500 and I cant decide on which to get.The rockford fosgate system, interior, and dash are whats pulling me toward the lancer. But the mazda 3 drives better. The Lancer seems very slow to react to the gas pedal and the engine is loud and high pitched. The mazda reacts to the pedal and the engine sounds alot better. I have no clue why because the lancer has 12 more horsepower. Can someone tell me why?
