Is Bell having a problem with many of their HD channels? At about 12:30AM PDT today many of their HD channels say the signal is lost and please wait or change channels.

I know that one of the satellites (I think it was 91?) went down for about 8 minutes yesterday afternoon. Doesn't it have something to do with the sun in a certain area of the sky, or witch-doctors doing some sort of dance or something at this time of year? I think I remember reading that somewhere...

Got many issues like that last night...

One of our main satellite in Toronto went down...

Run a checkswitch it will most probably get you going again...verify in the results section of the result page that both odd and even will appear in the transponder part of the results under sat 82

Sunspot activity, I believe, peaks in early March. Weather may have an impact -- particularly uplinks from Toronto given we had severe weather late yesterday. HD channels are on satelite 82.

It was clear as a whistle in Winnipeg yesterday. I had assumed it was sun activity. Maybe not? Wasn't there a "calculator" online before that let you check the "schedule" of sun outages? Anyone have that link handy?

The bad weather was earlier in the evening and should not have been a factor around three thirty am eastern time.

The bad weather was in Southern Ontario and mostly likely affected the uplinks in Toronto. I lost my signal several times through the evening, the worst I've ever seen it.

Our satellite who is sending the signal (from Toronto) was down...we didn't get details on how or why this happened.

I'm still having problems getting a signal for most of my sat 82 channels.

Did a check switch and a reset earlier which seemed to resolve the problems...now I've lost most my HD channels again.

But moving channels around on transponders? Like moving a channel from one to another? Do they do that often?

Once, twice per month. Usually caused by transponder problems on those old satellites. BTW, correct link for all changes will be http://bellsrdu.ca/forum/viewforum.php?f=2 - they moved their site.

They could make daily changes; they needn't affect customers since the cut-overs can be done quickly (and possibly seamlessly). The entire 82 sat was re-arranged earlier this winter to put all the HD channels on transponders 6 - 32 and the remaining SD channels in 1 - 5. (I am going from memory, so don't quote the details; the gist is correct however.)
