I have severe allergies. I have been tested and reacted severly to every environmental, animal, grass, tree etc. there is except horses. And no food allergies. I have pretty much had them under control for years now by taking a half to whole benadryl at night prior to bed. I have an air purifier, all the covers on my bed. I double rinse all my clothes, use only glycerin soaps, u get the point.

My problem in the past 2 months I can't stop sneezing and it is getting worse. My eyes are red and itchy. And I want to claw my sinuses out. I can't function when I have these attacks which are almost daily. I sneeze hundreRAB of times. Claritin, Allegra don't touch my allergies. Short of going on allergy shots(which I am trying to avoid) any suggestions. I have pets and getting rid of them is not an option. I just took 20 mg of prednisone...I'm hoping maybe my sinuses are so inflamed that this will help. I'm on my 3rd benadryl today.

Maybe I'm allergic to my boyfriend...hahaha

thanks

You sound like an excellent candidate for the injections. So why are you trying to avoid them? They work great. In the meantime, try Zyrtec.

honestly it just seems like a ton of time is needed to do them. and then it could be several years of getting them. ughhhhh i may just have to suck it up and do them. when i moved back to ny from atlanta my allergies improved soooo much. my hives have pretty much disappeared but now they are getting worse. i've been sneezing since about 3pm today. and my eyes are so red i look like i've been boozing....if i go to work looking like this tomorrow people are going to wonder....ha

Benadryl works for about 6 hours so you're really only covering a small portion of your day by only taking a single Benadryl at night. You might want to try taking Claritin or Zyrtec (both are available in generic form - Loratadine or Cetirizine) every day for a couple of weeks to see if they don't provide you with better relief from your allergy symptoms.

thanks all....i will go to costco tomorrow and pick up a giant pack of one of those....the prednisone kicked in last night and i could feel my sinuses start to "relax" if that makes sense.....it was weird i still was sneezing for a while but the constant "itch" or aggravation that i had seemed to disapte

Well, I would get a small package and see which works for you before investing in a larger amount. Claritin never did anything for me but it's the only one that works for my cousin. I use zyrtec, which doesn't do much for her. Try one and see if it works first.
