this have ANY chance of passing? Polls show 55% oppose the ban, 39% favor the ban.

and to make matters worse for those who favor the ban: This will be on the ballot in November 2012,
when voter turnout is expected to be very high in a presidential year..........
and high turnout generally favors those on the left.

There is an ongoing lawsuit in the Minnesota courts to legalize gay marriage..........
with 4 of the 7 state supreme court justices being republican-tim-pawlenty-appointees,
it's unclear if this lawsuit will succeed.
but a republican-appointed-judge ruling in favor of gay marriage has happened many times before and is not unprecedented by any means.

Oh dear lets hope so

This anti gay thing reminds me of the anti-black campaign where blacks couldnt use same bathrooms as whites an we called it diff things

an they had to drink diff fountains of water an sit in the back of busses

republiacns want gays to call there thing unions an to sit in the back of the busses an stuff

As a Conservative, I do not feel that it is my prerogative to tell anyone whom they should fall in love with and marry. I don't care if someone decides to marry their dog. It does nor affect me.
Besides, I wish all men were gay, except me and maybe a couple hundred others. ;-)

Your math is going the wrong way.

You are looking at it like this: "Since it'll be in the general election, and a lot of people on the left show up for the general election, it won't pass."

The real reason behind it is this: "This is an issue that will get the right to the polls when they would have otherwise stayed home. Therefore, everything else the left wants to do in November 2012 -- like, say, reelect a president -- becomes that much harder."
