Mini schnauzer grooming?

My mini schnauzers fur is a mess, it's all tangled everywhere. I cant brush it apart, so if i cut his fur, he'll probably be naked and fuzzy. How longwill it take for his fur to re grow? Is there a better idea to untangle his fur?
 
it will not take long for his fur to grow back in. it should come back soon. and yes you should have it shaved off. the matts will get worse and dirty and it is really very uncomfortable and irritating to the dog.
 
Same with my dog he is a mini schnauzer i d take him to the grooming we do that with our dog and he comes home with no tangles his fur does grow pretty fast
 
Ummm, this should have been prevented before it even became a problem. If he is the sort of breed that gets tangled and matted fur, he needs to be groomed daily! I would take him to a dog groomer and see what they suggest. If you do want to shave him, at least it's spring now, that's all I can say.
 
Why don't you just take the dog to the groomer to have a professional job done? It is not easy to get mats out of the fur, and can actually become very uncomfortable for the dog if it's really bad. Whatever you do, don't wet the fur and try to *bath* the mats out of the dog...it will only make things 100 times worse. Just go to the groomer. It shouldn't be more than 6 weeks before the fur grows out again. Also, brush the dog often so this doesn't happen again in the future.
 
i have a cockapoo (more poodle) and her fur gets like that alot. we occasionally give her hair a trim. When it starts growing back, brush it at least every other day to keep it looking nice :)
