Minecraft: Beta Server Creation (LAN)?

My friends and I are all operating off the same router in my house, all on laptops. We each have different IP addresses, but when I create a server with the new server client and he types in my computer's IP (from the network and sharing center) it says it is invalid.

tl;dr Beta Minecraft LAN play: how do?
my ipconfig isn't even GIVING me an ipv4
