...Opinions and Experiences? My husband is leaving for Iraq in a week. Aparently he gets a two week break to come home during his one year deployment. He origionally wanted to get me pregnant before he left which we decided together was not a great idea because he would miss the birth and pregnancy. So now he wants us to try and concieve in that two week break. I want to wait until he is back for good so that he can be there for the entire pregnancy and appreciate it as this will be our first child. He says that he would only miss the first couple of months, but I believe that those are so important as well as the rest of the months. What do other Military wives think about this? What do you Military service members that have had a pregnant wife while away on deployment think? Have any of you out there been pregnant while your soldier, sailor, or marine were on deployment? What was it like? Pro's and Cons Please?

He can be deployed at any time. Do not plan on him being able to be home for the entire pregnancy. His plan sounds good to me as they rarely send someone back right away after a one year deployment.

Also, I think it is more important for him to be there at the birth and first months of the child's life than to be there for the pregnancy. Face it, there is not much a guy can do in the early months of a pregnancy, except to be there to tell you you are eating too much and getting fat.
