Military: How would you feel if your recruiter made you walk 12 miles?

I'm a former Marine of 8 years. I got out over 2 years ago and I decided to rejoin the military (Army). I will be leaving for OCS at the end of the month but I have to check in every Thursday to show them that I'm in shape ( I work out 7 days a week and run 3 days a week).

Yesterday, on my way to my recruiters office my car broke down 90 miles from home, 20 miles to the recruiters office. I called my recruiter and told them that my car had broken down 20 miles away and I do not have a way to get to their office (my wife was working 150 miles away).

When I called he said, "well hmmm... I'm the only one here hmmm... idk what to say... hmmm etc." I said, "well you can pick me up so that's it's an official check in then take me home if that's possible since I am 90 miles from home." Then I said, "I'll call you back in 15 mins to see what the situation is and hopefully I do not have to start walking home."

I called back 15 mins later and it went to voice mail,so I called back 3 minutes later, it went to voice mail, Finally I called back 10 minutes after the 1st 15mins and it went to voice mail.

I called my wife and told her the situation, she contacted her boss and she left to pick me up. I walked to meet her on the side of the road to blow off some steam and to save money, I figured if I could get in atleast 15 miles that would save us a total of 30 miles and a few bucks lol. You're not aware but we are BROKE lol to the point were we are acutally counting pennies.

How would you feel if the recruiter did this to you? What would you say? What would you do? I really need back into the military for financial reasons and due the nature that I belong there.

Thanks.
P.S. this is southern Indiana... and it started to RAIN 3 miles into the hike/run, and I was in the middle of the country, no stores, nothing.
usa_63b: In all honesty, I did laugh a few times and I kept thinking of bootcamp how we hiked 64 miles and how I could do this... yadda yadda yadda but I did laugh.

Crow: you're missing the point, the point is no one should be left behind, and if I had to walk the full 90 miles that would have sucked .lol
