I would like to announcement my engagement in the local paper, but I'm not sure on the proper etiquette on how to address my fiance. He is a 1st Lieutenant of the United States Marine Corps and he is currently stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA. He just came back from his deployment in Iraq. This is what I have thus far:

____ is the son of ___and ______ of ___. He is a 19xx graduate of High School and a 20xx graduate of University. He is currently serving in the United States Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant and is stationed at Camp Pendleton, California. He is a war veteran of Operation Iraqi Freedom.
My other question is can I address him by only his first name for the beginning of this paragraph and would I even put that he was deployed in the announcement? Thank you all for your help. I just want this perfect and I know how important formality is for addressing our military persons. Thank you!!
