Military Draft Question?

beats the hell out of me but it takes the agreement of the congress, which they would tie up for months at least debating it, if it ever even came up at all

so i'd guess a good long while
 
About how long does it take for the United States to start the drafting process?
What I mean by this is how long would it take from the United States saying that they are going to start a draft, to the first soldier on the ground?
