Miles on a bike... 1982 Honda GL500?

Looking into getting a 1982 Honda GL500 Interstate. i went and test drove it. Everything works. its in great shape. No Oil Leaks, No nothing bad really.. Only downside is it has 72k Miles. its 1000$ out the door. im looking for a bike i can ride for 1-2 years until i upgrade.
Thanks for all the responces so far, i know the basics, cabling, etc. The main problem i read on this bike is electrical, and it seems to be clear on that! it runs great. i was surprised. good new clutch handle... etc.
The family that owns it has a very close friend thats a honda mechanic.. so im thinking this is a good deal.Thanks!
 
I wouldn't let the mileage put me off an otherwise good Silver Wing. The bike was made to go places, and that is a great little engine - not a powerhouse, but reliable and simple.
