HI all quick question.
It has been cold lately and I have been inside on the net for hours. I sit on my bed cause I don't have enough room for a computer desk. Well the last two days my middle of my back about 1-2 inches away from my spine has been killing me, it even hurts when I walk. It feels like the muscle area cause it feels tight in that area. Did I do permantent damage to it from sitting on my bed with no back support? Is this normal, I mean has this happened to anyone here? I am currently using a heating pad and taking advil for the problem. I really need your advice about this, thanks

There are so many variables when it comes to what causes one person's injuries...

So yes you could have damaged your back that way... Personally I can't sit overly long in chair working at my computer, even if with a specialized ergonomic chair and a PowerBoard lap keyboard tray so my arms are at 90 degrees.

Personally I use a MyPlace bed/couch laptop tray to work from bed. Also, I have a bluetooth keyboard so I can type without having to move the tray over my legs every time I need to type. So I only move my laptop on top of me if I know I am going to be engaged doing something for a long while.

Just some suggestions on what works for me...

What you did to your back isn't permanent, BUT it is trying to tell you that it doesn't like the position that you chose to sit in and work. So, a word to the wise...sit with some support for your back-even if you have to sit on the floor against a wall. Don't sit for hours without getting up and moving around-your tend to stiffen up when you stay immobile. nd do osme exercises to strengthen your core muscle group that supports your back!

I'd be interested if you're still having problems because I seem to be having similar issues, although I have NO IDEA what I did to hurt my back. I started a thread "T3,4, 5 unrelieving pain- what to do next???" (title is something like that) few days ago and I'm wondering if you got any relief and what you did to obtain that.
Hope you're feeling better.
