Had a car accident Summer of 2007. I got T-boned on drivers side. I went to a clinic the next day and had x-rays taken. I was told everything was fine and was given pain medicine. For the next 10 months I had very minor pain off and on, didn't keep me from doing anything. I was told by frienRAB that I would always have back pain for now on. I figured if that was the worst it would be I could live with it. Well, after that 10th month, one day it came back so bad, I could not sit down much less stand up. The worst part was sitting down. I went to see the doctor and had x-rays taken. Dr. said I had mild scoliosis. I asked him if maybe it wasn't a result from the accident. He told me that you are born with it. Long story short, prescriptions didn't work and I did physical therapy for close to 2 months, till I was told I didn't need to go anymore but keep doing my exercises on my own. This helped relieve the pain to maybe a 3 on a scale of 1-10. Still, the worst part was sitting down. I didn't stop working, even doing some physical work, but once I sit down I will feel the sharp pain on my mid lower back. Had another x-ray and again was told nothing was wrong. Fast forward to a year later and I finally decided to go to a chiropractor. Some people I know swear by them, others told me stay away from them. I don't want to do surgery as I am very mobile and am able to get around, I figured that maybe thats all I need to get me over the "hump" that exercise alone couldn't do.
The chiropractor took x-rays and told me that I have a compressed disc on my lower back and that I have arthritis down there. I signed up for a program where I am scheduled for several visits. I have now gone about fifteen times and this has helped relieve some pain, I'm told that I am responding well to the adjustments and making progress. There are some days when I feel good while standing up but as always, once I sit down it is painful. I'm still working but am being careful on physical work. I'm only doing light exercises as I was told and sleeping on my back or side. There are times when I feel pain on my shoulders- upper back but not all the time- even when standing. Today, I was really feeling it bad while sitting down. I'm just wondering if anyone can tell me how long it should be when I will be able to see some progress when sitting down. Any feedback and recommendations would be much appreciated.
