Micro Sim and Nokia N8 -- Nokia Recommends Against. Your Experiences, Please.

1)Nokia states on their website (and other online literature I've been able to find) that they recommend against using a Micro Sim and a Micro Sim with an adapter in the Nokia N8.

I have and use an iPhone 4 (flame suit is on), so naturally, this presents a problem that I've yet to encounter in all of my other phones I still use. From what I've read, it appears a micro sim can damage the N8 since it is slot-loaded instead of more of a "slide-in" if that makes any sense.

So, I'm sure some of you guys are coming from an iPhone 4...is everything working okay for you all?

2)Did you have to change the specifics in the settings so that you were able to connect to the internet (I've had to do this on all of my other phones, so I'm half expecting to do this).

Thanks, everyone.

I can see how this would be a problem if you use a microsim tray that doesn't secure the card and it somehow gets loose while you try ejecting it and you end up with a N8 with no simcard inserted and a jammed simcard slot.

There's also the fact that there are varying sizes/designs of the trays and I'm sure the width of the tray matters when putting it in the slot on the N8.

I just ordered one of these yesterday, I'll let you know how it is when it gets here.

That's exactly what I want to do...

...however, out of principle, I have half a mind to just have them give me a regular size SIM and then sell the iPhone 4 -- it's such a PITA to use that stupid adapter whenever I want to swap phones.

I sold my iPhone 4 earlier this fall and recently bought an N8. Been using the micro-SIM card with an adapter with no problems whatsoever. It's a bit of a pain to insert because the card tends to fall out as it's being inserted into the slot, but once it's in there, it's a solid fit. The reception and sound quality of the N8 is miles ahead of the iPhone, by the way, although I really miss having my choice of apps. I'm hoping that Nokia releases an update soon to address all the issues with the N8 you'll find mentioned in this forum. So far, though, I'm a happy camper.
