Good call! The wife and I just rode every one of those last week. Had great weather and a great time. No problem getting rooms anywhere in the UP. We stayed 2 nights in Copper Harbor and saw plenty of empty parking spots at the motels.

The highway into Copper Harbor had been resurfaced since I was there last and is in nice shape. M119 wasn't bad either.

My buddies and I just finished the Circle Tour of Lake Michigan last weekend. The Tunnel of Trees was nice. The locks at Sault Ste Marie were cool. I liked the Mackinac Bridge but had to ride the grated section for a while which was a little spooky. I enjoyed Mackinac City, Harbor Springs, The Blue Star Highway, and Petosky. Manistique in the U.P. had some really nice scenery but, overall, I was disappointed in the U.P. The Wisconsin side was boring except for Green Bay. I am a Packer fan so I was like a little kid there. We had some fun and my butt is killing me.

Just did that trip as well in June, great time with my dad and was my first long (1100 mi) trip on my road king.

Really enjoyed the Museum in Milwaukee and the ferry ride isn;t bad, but its expensive!

The falls are great as well, try out the road from paradise to whitefish point, about 15-20 miles i thinkand was some of the best road I went on in the UP.

What they all said and I also really enjoyed Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore

Plus the ride up to Copper Harbor in the UP is fantastic!

I would shoot up the West Side of the state. Holland, Grand Haven, Ludington are all cool little towns that have inlets to lake MI that have light houses. Plus that side of the state has less Freewy riding. Good Luck!

I got back a month ago from a trip to the Upper Penninsula, went in at Duluth, MN and then across to Marquette towards Brimley and Sault Ste Marie. I'm into the Lake Superior thing, and found this site to be pretty helpful:

http://www.lakesuperiorcircletour.info/

They also have a free magazine that they'll mail you which offers a lot of information regarding cities around Lake Superior, places to stay, things to do, etc. for trip planning.

Lower Michigan has a lot to offer also, but I just prefer the relatively less crowded stretches around Lake Superior.

FWIW.

Have a nice trip.

+ 1 on everyting listed above, plus

Tahquamenon Falls in the UP (the brewery there has amazing food) . I would also make the trip up to the Nothern most point in Michinan's UP, Copper Harbor MI... Amazing views there. Also look up a place called the Boot Lake bar n grill in Shingleton, great food there as well. Munising is a cool town on the lake. I personally never been up there in the summer, only on my snowmobile, been from Sault Ste Marie to Wisconsin. Big Bay they have a nice Bar n Grill.

Michigan is such a beautiful state, enjoy and ride safe

I lived there for 3 years when the Army sent me to teach at CMU. Beautiful state, made some great friends. Check out the UP, it's a beautiful ride!
