Metro Service Books Request split from Blackberry settings thread

I have the cricket service books ( full wap and mms ) and a pdf of how to install. I'm willing to give it freely.
I only ask in return that someone unpacks it and repacks it with the service book that will enable my wifi. Just pm me with your email.

do u not have a tmobile blackberry? or did u accidentally delete it. What model do u have; i might be able to get that one for you.

edit: Oh u have the flip one, mine's a USCC 8330, so it doesn't have wi-fi, but i have a friend w/ tmobile, but he has an 8900 and an an 8800series

I am so confused. I have been looking everywhere for a solution to get my 8830 on the internet and mms send/receive working. Apparently it has been done. All the free solutions i have found do not work at all. All this debate about the paid version...i read sometimes it is free and sometimes it is not free, with the reasons for not posting it because of fear someone will get their hands on it and resale it for a really high price? That sounds very nice and all...but what makes you think they will not do it anyway? If you want money for it, fine. But charging for it intially will not stop resellers. What WILL stop resellers is that if you make an EASY and OBVIOUS method of getting the file for free. Most people, (myself included) search for the free route first before going toward the paid route.

I know you spent a lot of time on your project, and I commend you on that. I am an iphone programmer myself, and I know what its like to spend a lot of time on things. But personally, I would never sell my stuff. Free = much wider reception in the community which you are on. Charging for it will only create yourself a hate group. I got around this by submitting my software as 'Beggarware', you know, you can donate if you want, for any ammount you think its worth, or not at all. This method works, let me tell you. I have received emails from those that only donated 2 or 3 dollars with the explaination that times are tough, but they wanted me to know that they feel the need to give me a little something for my efforts.

That said, If I cannot find a free soloution myself, I will crack my knuckles and create a free soloution myself and release it. Goodness knows Ive done that for many other paid versions.

Let me give you an example, my current iphone project is a free irc client, since the only one available is this super buggy version. I think its an insult to the iphone community to not have at least ONE good, solution available.

but anyway, enough of my ranting. Whether if you truly chose to charge for it or not, good work!

TonyCortes helped me out, and the solution worked perfectly. Try to get in touch with him and ask politely for help. He doesn't charge for the solution (AFAIK) if it's for your personal phone.

Tony helped me out too and true, his solution is perfect, but when I saw that Leonicdragon posted some other books I had to try those too to see if they worked. They also worked on my 8830. Still I prefer Tony's for cleanness and simplicity. To the guy having trouble with his 8830, are you sure there isn't something else you could be missing, like the correct data settings? I assume you have cricket or metro service.

Ah, Mr. Cortes helped me out as well and everything s working as it supposed to. I think i may take on the suggested project of writing an app to tunnel apps requests to port 8080, but I am doing a bit more research to see if it is even possible. I have VERY little faith in the Java programming language.

Like two threads down there's a bit about the WiFiX app that does exactly that (well, it redirects connections to a WAP connection, which you have previously set up for 8080). It works awesome and is $5 right now, though it won't work with SSL.

most devices and diagnostic tools don't read back the password you wrote for security purposes. I'm very sure it did write, but all you see is blank. very common.

Heh, but why pay for something when you can do it yourself, with a little bit of research (and then release it as free software when you manage to pull it off).

hey unicromium, if you're up for the task of developing that app, it's up to you buddy. good luck, look at the transport development info Blackberry has available and also look into application data transport parameters... you will find what you need there.

ok guys I am in need of some help. I paid a store to flash my BB storm to cricket. Everything works EXCEPT I cant RECEIVE MMS! Can someone please help? I have called the store and he keeps giving me the run around. This is getting very frustrating
