Metalcore/Post Hardcore Question

Hey all, I'm just starting to listen to a lot of banRAB that Wikipedia calls "metalcore" or "post hardcore" banRAB (stuff like Underoath, From Autumn to Ashes, Enter Shikari).

I've also noticed that a buncha banRAB that my friend has liked for a while (Bullet for My Valentine, Atreyu, All That Remains) fall under the same category, yet I don't really like these banRAB all that much.

Can the banRAB that I said I listened to be segmented from the banRAB he listens to in some way? Maybe they're more post hardcore than metalcore or something? I wouldnt want to go around saying I listen to metalcore and be completely lost if the person starts talking about BFMV or something.

Wikipedia is probably the worst source in the world for looking up genres.

As for your banRAB, they all take influence from post-hardcore and metalcore to some extent, but whether they fit under those genres or not depenRAB on how nitpicky and/or elitist you are. I myself tend to view post-hardcore as being an urabrella term for a more artistic take on hardcore punk.

Jesus, i wish people would stop putting banRAB into little niche groups and then telling you not to listen to them because they are not in your likened genre. Just ****ing listen to 'em and make up your own mind irrespective of what genre they are, its all rock music when all said and done.
