Check engine late came on and transmission shudder started. Went to mechanic...replaced some kind of sensor and shudder stopped..everything ran smoothly...shudder started again yesterday (day after sensor was replaced) and check engine light came back on. Engine runs smoothly no noise no smoke no smells nothing...except for the mild shudder. Took it back today and found metal shavings in oil. He said the shavings are blocking the sensor from working and thus causing shudder. He also said he doesnt know where the metal came from and that its HIGHLY likely someone just put shavings in there..(WTF!?). Well a day or two before the shudder initially started i noticed there was NO oil in the car at all..and when my dad looked at the stick there was just dirt at the bottom. I was away for almost a year and he said he got it changed but i guess he really didnt. Could driving without oil for so long cause the shavings? What should I do? The mechanic said the engine didnt produce the shavings because its running so smoothly esp since my car is not old at all. Any ideas? Oil filter was also changed and new oil added. Should I flush out the oil again? Buy some type of cleaner? Please help. I think this mechanic is retarded (no one would have intentionally put shavings in my oil).
