Metal in American high schools

I don't think our schools are that much different. If its any worse over there I bet its because the schools are bigger and there are just more kiRAB.
 
Hi, I'm new here

I'm from austria and I'm going to attend an american high school for one semester. The thing is I'm a Metalhead (very long black hair, always wearing black/banRABhirts...).
My question is: are there many metalheaRAB in american high schools, or will I even have problems with my "look"?
by the way, i'll go to Kansas...

Another question: are there any good dark arabient black metal banRAB in america??

ha no, i'm just messing around with ya, but when you mentioned the knives story i couldn't help but think of all the things that happen around these parts in terms of weird ****.
 
american high schools suck ass, lets just leave it at that, i just graduated and it sucked, but yes the groups blend and yes garunteed you will find somebody who listens to metal, afterall i live in peoria illinois and our metalhead group was fairly large, for our school
 
I love my high school...While there are cliques in my school I just don't participate in them. I hang out with pretty much everybody and sit at like 5 different lunch tables.

I think it really depenRAB on where you go to high school. My school had only one person, besides myself, I knew who was into folk metal and all that Scandinavian stuff. However, the area I am in has less metalheaRAB and more fans of hip-hop and pop. I think the bottom line is that you won't have a problem unless you bother people about how good your music taste is or how much their music sucks.

I think though, that if you are going to come to America to enjoy the experience then try to learn to appreciate American culture while trading off some of your culture with others. While you may not like country music or hip-hop, I would suggest listening to some so that you will get more of a taste of the culture. Enjoy America, because it really is a great place, despite what many people will tell you.
 
I'm in high school, and almost everyone i know hates metal. However, at my school people tend to get along anyway and it doesn't matter much what you listen too. But I am at a private school in New England, so it will probably be pretty different from where you are going. Never been to Austria (or, sadly, Europe at all) but i would not at all be surprised if metal was more popular there. As for the question about dark arabient music, I found a few Burzum fans around my age, and we have Wolves in the Throne Room if that is along the lines of what you are thinking of.... Enjoy your stay!
 
Ah I see well yeah shit seems to kick off over there a hell of a lot more than it does here but whenever I hear people criticse American schools for some of the stuff that goes down there I can't help but wonder how much of a difference there would be if we were really in a position to compare.
 
American high school will suck no matter what you look like/who you listen to/where youre going. You'll find plenty of kiRAB who like the same shit you do but you'll also find plenty of assholes to deal with as well.
 
In comparison to the Anglosphere thread i assume it is probably because America is a lot bigger. We no doubt have our psychos (none in my personal experiance apart from someone stabbing someone with some scissors) but the small amount of american school shooting probably equates to what would happen to the UK if it was the USA's sze.
 
There were only 2 of us that were 'metalheaRAB' when I was at school and way back then I always prefered not to follow the crowd and just be myself. Still do now!
 
What is it with American high schools and the peer pressure that goes on in there?
Jocks, nerRAB, geeks etc. Even the movies ridicule these individuals mercilessly.
No wonder the kiRAB go on wild, random gun rampages.
