Metal Bands different from the crowd

No emo screamo, papa roach, any of that SHIT. Lamb of God, Sick of It All, Dethklok, Heaven Shall Burn, GOD FORBID etc. etc.

Post any that belong in this category. I'm on a music hunt.

Wolves in the Throne Room, Akercocke, Behemoth, T.O.O.H, Abydos, Nile, 1349, Genocide Kommando, Blut Aus Nord, Frantic Bleep, Ulver(early stuff), Behold... The Arctopus, Turisas, and I'll throw Nemo in there but really only for their album presages. I could go on for a couple pages but that would be too much work.

If you like those, you may like some European melodeath like:
At the Gates, Carcass (specifically the album Heartwork), Dark Tranquillity, (old) In Flames, Eucharist, Hypocrisy, Edge of Sanity, Suidakra, Catamenia, Disarmonia Mundi, and Mercenary

Mastodon - prog/heavy metal
High on Fire - heavy metal a la Motorhead
Black Label Society - melodic heavy/thrash
Dark Tranquility - melodic death
early In Flames - melodic death
Vader - Polish thrash/death
Infernal Poetry - tech/death
Pig Destroyer - grind
Skeletonwitch - death
Baroness - prog/southern/melodic metal
Between The Buried And Me - power/thrash/speed/basically all types of metal
The Ocean Collective(more commonly known simply as The Ocean) - hardcore punk/ melodic sludge metal
The Sword - LOTR-type lyrics, very melodic
Gojira - French death
Job For A Cowboy - death/doom

Let me know if you want any of it, I can supply links to all of it. Mastodon, High on Fire, Black Label Societ, Pig Destroyer, and Gojira are some of my favorite metal banRAB, I highly recommend all of them.

Yea. Not a band I listen to often though. Try Samael's "Solar Soul" if you're looking for something semi-similar to Rammstein (they sing in English though)

Suffiocation is some nice early Death Metal, Steel Attack, Spheric Universe Experience, Spastic Ink, Sleepytime Gorilla Museum, Sieges Even, Rigor Mortis, Polluted Inheritance, Therion, Gorod, Svarrogh, Tormentor, Nevermore, Bloodcum, Visceral Bleeding. All good metal banRAB some more common than others, some really rare and "hard" to find.

All I pretty much listen to today is Dark Tranquility, In Flames, Soilwork, Mnemic, Threat Signal, Fear Factory, Sybreed, Meshuggah and Scar Symmetry. You should give em a try.

Haven't heard of a few of those but sounRAB like my kinda stuff. Fear Factory is by far one of my fav banRAB. Any links or should I just hit up YouTube?

I mean that entire list isn't black metal, even excluding Nile. And while I'm at it Meshuggah, diSEMBOWELMENT, Morte Macabre, My Dying Bride, Nazgul, NeBeLNeSt, Necronomicon, Svarrogh, Vital Remains, Visceral Bleeding, Agalloch, Astral Doors, Volbeat, Atroce, Atheist, Cattle Decapitation, Chants de Guerre, Cirith Gorgor, Convulse, Crypt Of Kerberos and I am once again done. I regrettably moved down to the general southern-east area so I've seen them a couple times also.

Emo, Screamo, and Papa Roach are not Metal to begin with, and the groups you listed are fairly generic.

Unexpect is one metal band that sits high atop a throne of uniqueness, if you can find it, buy In A Flesh Aquarium, easily one of the most eccentric and original albums I've listened to.

Otherwise, here are a few of my favorite Metal groups;
Pain of Salvation, Dream Theater, Ayreon, Riverside, Epica, Wintersun, Kamelot, Opeth, Ensiferum, Diablo Swing Orchestra, Symphony X, Therion, and Haggard.
The Gathering and Porcupine Tree are two of my favorite groups, that I only mention because they both have some Metal material strewn about their discography, though The Gathering and Porcupine Tree are ordinarilly Trip Rock and Progressive Rock, respectively.
