my doctor gave me 2 Weeks of pristiq samples 50mgs and a prescription for it. just found out my insurance wont cover it, so the pharmacist said she is waiting on the doctor to give me something else.

i wont hear from the doctor until monday, i guess....so should i even bother with the pristiq samples? there is no generic for pristiq. it might be pointless to take a few days samples of pristiq and switch to something different right?

man, ive been trying so long to get myself ''normal'' and something always happens. im so sick of feeling like this. whenever i get overanxious about something like this i get depressed. i hate feeling crappy like this. i just want to enjoy life.

Pristiq is in the same class of (SNRI's) as Effexor and Cyrabalta. Possibly your doc will switch you to one of those meRAB. It probably wouldn't make sense to take the Pristiq samples if you are not going to be able to take Pristiq. Just hang tough until Monday :) I doubt you would have seen much benefit from the Pristiq that soon anyway.

Thanks EW,

Hmmm, wonder why she gave me this drug. She first gave me cyrabalta to try, but it made to too nauseous to have a productive life. i wonder if effexor will be the same.

I am also very concerned about the side effects. some of the ones mentioned are coma, seizures, increased cholestoral, tremors, weight gain. aside From my anxiety, i life a very healthy life. i weight train, run, eat very healthy, and do not use drugs and drink very minimally (which i will stop if using these meRAB), but i dont want to harm my body in anyway. all of the internet is some really scary information about these drugs. i guess i think this Way because of my anxiety. i would just hate to do harm to myself. did ever feel This way ?

I would imagine that most of us who suffer from anxiety immediately look on the Internet for information about the drug we have just been prescribed and read about all the negative side effects and the horror stories that others have posted and then become VERY anxious about it. Sometimes dwelling on the negative until we talk ourselves out of even giving the medication a chance. And of course I have done this as well.

Since all insurance coverage is different, doctors don

I think i stopped cyrabalta after 2 weeks. i felt nauseous all day long, and it made it difficult to concentrate in school and to enjoy working out. i lost all appetite as well. My doctor did not suggest any meRAB for the nausea; otherwise, i might have stuck it out.

I really Appreciate you advice, especially since you know where I am coming from. but i really hate taking medication, especially since it all seems like trial and error, and i am not comfortable with some of the warnings that are posted about these drugs. from what i have read about effexor is that you need to be on it for the rest of your life; otherwise u have to be very cautious with withdrawl. i was just hoping to use something to get me through college because i stress out a lot. anyway, i have decided that i will just make use of their counceling center and hope that it does me some good. i thought medication was what i needed, but i think i should look at my other options first.

There are of course medications for anxiety that are for short term, occasional use such as Lorazepam, Xanax, etc. There is also Buspar that is specifically for anxiety. It does have to be taken every day though.
